That place is dead!

Filed under: party, food, travel - Administrator @ 1:41 pm

Last Tuesday, some guys and gals from our company went to grabbed some drinks. After a long debate - with Argie wanting to go to some oldies place in Malate, not that it is bad but it is freaking Tuesday! - we decided to settle at Grilla in Rockwell. Pretty cozy place I should say. After 3 buckets of mouth-watering beers and a chocolate fundu for pulutan - WTH! - we decided to transfer to another place and then it happened. Argie wanted to go to this Jeckyl and Hyde place and keeps on insisting it is just around the corner. John doubted Argie’s statement and reiterated that the place was in Taft and has been closed for 3 years now. But Argie was such a pain in the ass and kept on insisting that such place existed. After several arguments, we joked Argie that maybe he wanted to go to Ozone Disco - no offense to people with relatives that died in the horrifying accident. And we just laughed at Argie. Argie, now sober, said that he was time-warped. LOL. Afterwhich we decided to spent the next 30mins at Pier1 in the Fort ordering beer at the same time sipping some tuna belly soup, again courtesy of Argie. Pretty rough Tuesday night.

ElbowRoom

Filed under: party, social, office, tips, food, travel - Administrator @ 8:43 am

Last Thursday, the whole Perl team, as well as the QA and the Graphics team went to Elbow Room at Metrowalk, Ortigas for their team building. I was the only one that wasn’t part of either the three teams or with the HR, so in effect I was just a gate crasher, but never a party pooper.

That was the first time I went to Elbow Room and good thing they reserved a VIP room. The VIP room is quite big, with 2 tv sets dedicated for videoke, a long table for the foods, and a billiard table smacked in the center. If you have no plans on renting the VIP room, one can still play billiards on their public area however you lose the videoke and swap it for a live band instead - which is not a bad idea afterall.

The price, as I can recall, is PHP 4,000 for the VIP room from 8PM - 12MN (not bad ehh). However food is not yet part of the package. Compared that to Redbox’s PHP 399 (exclusive of tax) + PHP 99 for buffet per person which is good for 7PM - 12MN.

It was a fun night and we wrapped it up with a final drinking round at Jay-Js.

RedBox

Filed under: party, office - Administrator @ 4:48 pm

The entire Java team and a couple of guys from the management decided to have a team building. And we decided to do it at RedBox. RedBox is known as the videoke place in Greenbelt. It was a nice get-together. Nothing spectacular. Just simple fun. Some of the Java guys are quite serious and it’s really hard to crack a joke at them. But if you think about it that is the real reason for the teambuilding, to get to know your teammates and bash them hard! Wehehe.

I treated!

Filed under: party, social, office - Administrator @ 12:57 am

I must be quite sick yesterday cause *gasp* I treated some of my officemates in Bistro 101. They forced me! Ahh no, they didn’t I was just hit by a light and boom I treated. I have the money (i’m filthy rich, bwahahahaha) and to stop them from bugging me everyday for the rest of my life to treat them, I treated them but not the whole 9 yards just the 1/2 of it.

It was a fun night. Really good night.

Linger

Filed under: party, social, food, weather, music - Administrator @ 4:21 am

Yesterday we went to - forget the name of the place - a bar right in front of Gwellos in Palanca.

The place is much cozier compared to Gwellos, but the latter stands out in its musical choices. Well I’m not really a fan of R&Beh music.emoticon

Anyway, after the R&Beh music, a band performed. The singer asked our group if someone is celebrating something. Well Argie pointed at me and shouted, "It’s Jan2x’s birthday!" Oh shucks. Then the singer greeted me and asked me if I want to request a song. Argie requested Linger by Cranberries. He said that he is a fan of Irish bands and it fits that rainy night. Good thing the band obliged.

What is Prepaid?

Filed under: conversation, health, party, social - Administrator @ 12:09 am

Last Friday, as I said in the previous post, we centered our conversation on marriage.

Ches: Paano nyo nalaman na siya na nga? (So how did you know that, that girl is the one?)
Me: Si Paul dapat sumagot nyan at si Del. (Paul should answer that one and also Del.)
Ches: Prepaid ba? (Is it prepaid?)
Del: Anong prepaid? (WTH is prepaid?)
Ches: Prepaid yung tawag pag nabuntis mo yung babae kaya kayo magpapakasal. (Prepaid is the term used when the girl is pregnant before marrying her.)
Del: Ahh, di naman. Naisip ko na talagang mag-asawa. (Nope, I just thought it was the time.)
Paul: Prepaid sana, kaso nakunan before ikasal. (Yup, it’s prepaid, but was miscarried.)

Friday with no money

Filed under: party, social, office - Administrator @ 3:42 am

It’s a f**** hell I tell you. Friday night with no money is like going to a midnight sale just to window shop (this is just an analogy). It sucks! Oh well, good thing Eli volunteered to pay for all our drinks with his credit card. Hooray! Saved by the bell!

So we went to gwelos in Palanca street just a few blocks away from the office. It was a fun night. Just talking, laughing, sharing jokes and getting to know some of the guys (oh sh*t, I sound so gay).

Moral of the story:

Save MORE money for Friday.

Nightout last Friday

Filed under: party, social - Administrator @ 4:34 am

Last friday - me, Chester, Primo, Argie, and Eli - went to Mag:net Bar at Katipunan. It was our first time there, well except for Argie, he recommended the place. Basically Mag:net is an art gallery whose upper floor is used as a bar. There we met his painting buddy, the artist Manuel Ocampo (great guy btw). Argie also showcased his very abstract creation plastered in Mag:net’s wall - btw it was a box with a slice of bread inside. So we have a couple of drinks and after a while left the place to find some other cool places to hang out (oh geez, the real reason we left the place was because there was an entrance fee of 150 bucks if we want to listen to the bands, unfortunately for us we don’t have that much moolah).

After we went to Cafe a-go-go in Ortigas (i know the name connotes a naked lady dancing, but no). The place is quite cozy, with a simple ambience and cool sofa chairs. We just stayed there to eat and off we go to Decades (well some of us wanted to dance, except maybe Argie).

Next stop Decades. Well I just ordered 2 Cali’s and a water, mwahahahaha! I’m such a kid. Well what can I say I just recuperated  from fever. Well, we met Chester’s friend, Vanie, such a cool girl and never a party pooper. We also met Vanie’s new found friends, well actually they’re a daughter and mom tandem. Whew! First time I saw a mom and daughter inside a bar. Well in fairness to them, the mom doesn’t look like a mom and the daughter looks mature for her age. So we partied and danced and laughed til it was time to go home, around 5am I guess.

It was a fun night. *sigh*
