Pedestrian

Filed under: transportation, rant - Administrator @ 4:31 pm

Why oh why do some people cross the pedestrian lane even though the traffic light is green? I just can’t find the logic! Is 30 secs to a minute that important to risk it all? Accidents happen not because of ‘fate’ but because of some ‘idiots’. Maybe we should all give the ‘idiots’ the Darwin Award. And oh pardon me, I’m almost late, you see I’m blogging this while I’m crossing the streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet….. *screetch* *nooooo* *blag* *kapow* *smack* *kaboom* *arggggg*

FU-HA!

Filed under: conversation, transportation, social, blog, events - Administrator @ 9:01 am

Wow! It has been almost 2 months since I last blogged here. What the f*** happened to me? Well, I just got bored, plain and simple. And since I’m not monetizing on this endeavour - in fact i’m losing countless brain cells and neurons just to come up with a decent blog.

And thanks to my friend that we will be naming Ruel for anonymity, I have a new entry for my blog, this entry is aptly entitle FUHA. What is FUHA? Well I have to share a little ‘backgrounder’ on that infamous term.

One night, while traversing along a major throughway we talked about sex. Yes that 3 letter word that guys love to talk all day and all night long. Somewhere along our conversation the word FUBU came up. Ruel, that innocent looking maniac guy, asked, what is ‘FUBU’. We told him it means ‘gwapo’ or handsome. But he didn’t fall for it - he is freaking learning. So we told him the truth, FUBU stands for F*** ____, he quipped aha! fucking bubuyog, what a guy, so we said, it’s F*** Buddy. Oh, smirking, do you guys have fubu before? Silence settled in the car and he quickly blurted the now infamous term (well within the confines of our office), I only tried FUHA. We jolted, what the hell is FUHA? Fuha you know, laughing at his own words, Fucking hand! And chaotic laughter dawned upon us.

No more free wifi

Filed under: transportation, social, rant, travel - Administrator @ 10:57 am

Well just got back from Davao City and I was shocked to find out that the terminal fee at Davao International Airport just went up from a meager PHP 40 to PHP 200! Wow! I thought - well ok - since we have a better terminal compared to Manila Domestic Airport, understandable, but when I tried to hook up to their wifi, there is no more free internet access. What happened? It used to be that Smart offered free wifi access at the terminal and now it’s gone. I was hoping the super price increase will benefit all. I was really hoping.

A thousand solemn faces

Filed under: transportation, travel, events, news - Administrator @ 4:16 am

Today, I went to Park Square just besides Glorietta 3. Just yesterday the whole nation was shocked with the allegedly ‘bombing’ of Glorietta 2. As news media outfits reported over the wave the aftermath of that disastrous event, I was hesitant to really go out the house much less go to Park Square. But I remembered, I have to make a Gcash transaction and the closest Globe Center was in Park Square and Glorietta. Even though Glorietta was open for business I don’t want to test my luck just yet so I chose the former. The atmosphere at the whole place was so surreal. I often visited Greenbelt, Landmark, and Glorietta on a weekend to hangout and do window shopping and most of the time - if not all the time - the whole place transformed into a bazaar. But this time the place was so quiet, even though there were still people hanging around (I bet they are not there to enjoy but to be uzis). A thousand solemn faces I should say, yesterday was a very tragic day, today was even gloomier.

Pandora of misfortunes

Filed under: transportation, social, blog, food, rant, music, travel - Administrator @ 6:19 am

Last Friday night, Chester invited me for a night out. I was hesitant at first because the place is in QC which WTF a million miles away from Makati. But I still went along because I was in Trinoma that time. Earlier that evening, I had dinner with Rheena and Shelie, err call that a despidida for Rheena (she will be working in Singapore) and destressing activity for Shelie (she hasn’t slept for 3 days because of her masteral). So after dinner we went to Starbucks to -obviously- drink beers, err coffee and tea. There I met up with Chester. After, we went to Guillys Island which is right besides ABS-CBN building. It was my first time there, it was actually a nice place, reminiscent of the Embassy bar, and the music was cool too, a lot of house and lots of R&Beh midway. After a drink or two or three or four or hell I forgot to count, we decided to dropped by Barrakz to have one last drink for the road. Ironic as it may seems but it will be our last drink at that fateful place. You see, Chester parked his car right besides the establishment, and after that one last drinking spree, we found out that one of tires were deflated and teared. Like WTF! No single guard ever noticed it happened. Good thing a gas station was nearby and we temporarily fixed it, and off we go. When we were almost halfway from his place the tire simply gave up, it was like a scene straight from the movies only this time we weren’t chased by either cops or hoodlums. Everyone in the street was looking at the car and some were concerned while others were laughing, hell, we didn’t even have a choice that time, we can stop and let the car be towed but that would be a HUGE hassle so Chester decided to let it ‘crawl’ up to the vulcanizing shop. Fortunately the tire wasn’t completely busted when we arrived there or else that would be another HUGE problem. Imagine driving around EDSA with a busted tire and screeching mag! Whooah (in Keanu Reeves style). Anyway, after that I rode a taxi and went home, but just before I called out one I step on this HUGE dog poopoo. Like ecky thump! Did we just opened a pandora of misfortunes?

Fontana

Filed under: transportation, travel - Administrator @ 2:34 am

Last Tuesday, I went together my girlfriend and her family to Fontana in Clark and wow it feels like I’m in a totally American suburb. 1/2 of my dream came true!

We stayed in a villa with 3 rooms and 2 bedrooms per room. I slept alone in the room. I didn’t actually turned off the lights. I was afraid that maybe, just maybe, a girl was raped by American in my room and she will cry at night staring at my face. So to make me stronger, I wrapped myself with all the blankets I could find and just cry.

The only problem with it is if you don’t have a car then tough luck. You will never find your way around Clark. And did I say it’s hot!?

Pictures will follow.

Stinky Taxis

Filed under: health, transportation, rant, travel - Administrator @ 1:30 am

I don’t have any of the faintest idea why my gf and I always end up riding a stinky taxi, not only once but twice! They say when you’re in a roll you’re in a roll.

Anyway, as soon as we are inside the taxi the revelation starts to unfold. The stinkiness - we believe - originated from their feet. Well I don’t have super "aromatic" feet, but hey Mr. Driver be considerate to your passengers. Don’t open up your shoes or even yet prepare a car freshener. That way we don’t have to die inside the backseat.

On spider-passengers and octopus-drivers

Filed under: health, transportation, social, rant - Administrator @ 1:54 am

Filipinos are funny people.

Just take a look at our public transportation system. It’s a mess.

Then take a look at the puv drivers. They are like octopuses. Have you seen them juggle between lighting up a cigarette to getting the jeepney payments to steering the wheel to manually adjusting the stereo volume to arranging all the bills to texting while driving? And don’t forget at the same time calling out for potential passengers. I must say they do have octopus like capabilities. It’s mind-blogging. Now you know the real reason for various accidents in the country.

Then take a look at the puv passengers. They are like spiders. Have you seen them (us) try to settle in a running jeepney? All those crazy maneuvers performed - holding the bars - just to find a seat? And don’t forget all those conductors just clinching at their death in the jeepney entrance. It’s crazy!

Then I realized, f***, what a f***ing way to be known around the world. We should be ashamed of our jeepneys. It is a pollution carrier and no matter how colorful it is, it doesn’t offer a safe ride. Maybe it’s time to modernize our public transportation.

Please fall in line!

Filed under: transportation, social, rant, travel - Administrator @ 1:57 pm

One thing I hate about Davaonoes is their disrespect for falling in line, which is, one thing I admire about Manilenoes.

This thing always happens everytime my girlfriend and I will wait for a taxi (not everyone is reach). Everytime. They just don’t know that there is a line. And the hell, they are the ones who will be mad if you try to reprimand them.

And also the security guards can’t do anything about it because ‘it is not our job’.

Hoping everyone will learn to fall in line. Or as Rene Requestas said ‘mahulog ka sa linya’.

Our bus in an accident

Filed under: transportation - Administrator @ 3:21 am

Last Tuesday, along Ayala Avenue, the bus I was riding met an accident. The side mirror of our bus was completely shattered along with the bumper of the other bus. The accident happened because the bus in front of us try to block a street which was supposed to be two-lane. So our bus tried to outmaneuver the other bus hoping to get some of the passengers. And boom! The accident happened. But for me it was really not a surprise, these buses think they are the king of the roads (goodbye Lawin for being the king of yore).

Moral of the story: Try not to be super aggressive, insensitive and arrogant or else accidents will happen.
